In order to give visibility into the use of DataWake for domain definition we plan to post short videos every week or two demonstrating our new capabilities.

  • February 18, 2016 - Revised sidebar, new Page Rating and Pre-fetch widgets

New functionality this week continues to focus on Domain Discovery. This demo covers the revised Firefox sidebar and the addition of the Page Rating and Pre-fetch widgets. These tools attempt to guide the users to pages that have denser populations of domain terms in the pursuit of achieving more directed trails.

  • January 08, 2016 - Domain Discovery Summary Export, Toolbar expanded functionality

New functionality this week continues to focus on Domain Discovery. Building upon the ability to append domain terms and types, we now perform operations to identify the the most frequently occuring items. We’ve added the ability to export a “Domain Summary”, which is a JSON document that can be used as a seed list for other processess such as crawlers. The Datawake Firefox plugin has also undergone some changes. In response to feedback we’ve simplified the plugin Toolbar by removing redundant dropdowns and adding the ability to create a new Trail directly. We also added toggle buttons to show/hide Domain items and the Datawake Panel as you trail.

  • December 18, 2015 - Domain Discovery and Domain Building with Datawake.

New functionality this week centers on Domain Discovery, enabling a user to easily append terms to a domain while browsing. As users browse a page the page contents are sent to a real time extractor that identifies entities within the webpage and presents them to user in the panel on the right. Suggested entities are sorted by their frequency of appearance on the page. Users may click on the most relevant terms to add them to their Domain as “domain items”.

  • December 11, 2015 - Datawake Interactive Panel via the Datawake plugin.

New functionality this week centers on displaying data to users as they browse a web page via the Datawake Panel. The panel can be toggled on or off as the user desires. Future videos will show different panel widgets with other funcionalities such as recommended links and a Word Cloud of extracted terms as well as examining some of the extractors we currently use.

  • December 04, 2015 - View Search Terms, Entity Cloud, and Extraction information from the plugin.

New functionality this week includes displaying search terms used on the “Visited Links” tab, displaying multiple entity types for entities on the “Entities” tab, and the creation of the “Word Cloud” tab which displays a word cloud of the entities extracted for the graphed trail. Future plans for the word cloud include a search term cloud as well as an entity cloud for the entire domain.
